RE: Outside Professional Activity Tracking System

Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to announce the Outside Activity Tracking System (OATS) initiative, which aims to provide faculty with an online portal for tracking outside professional activities. The OATS portal will facilitate the process of documenting compliance with the University of California conflict of commitment policies APM 025, APM 240, APM 246, and APM 671, replacing the current paper-based system at Santa Cruz.

Already in use at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, OATS will be expanded and enhanced to meet the needs of seven UC campuses: Berkeley, Davis, Irvine, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, and San Francisco. Rollout of the UC OATS system will begin Sept 2018 and continue through Sept 2019. Read more about the mission, governance model, and timeline for the OATS initiative, and get answers to frequently asked questions on the UC OATS website.

We look forward to your feedback and collaboration to make this tool useful and effective for everyone involved. Thank you in advance for your efforts and cooperation.

Sincerely,

Herbie Lee
Vice Provost for Academic Affairs
