Re: July 1, 2023 and October 1, 2023 Academic Salary Scales Issuance

Dear Colleagues:

We are issuing updated academic salary scales per the 2023-24 salary program for academic appointees. All policy-covered academic salary scales and ranges are subject to a 4.6% general range adjustment (subject to rounding and smoothing where applicable). Salary scales for represented academic appointees are set by the terms of their Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA). The changes will be effective on either July 1, 2023 or October 1, 2023 as follows:

July 1, 2023 [Effective July 9, 2023 for biweekly paid appointees]

Policy-covered Non-faculty Academic Appointees: 4.6% general range adjustment increase. Includes Continuing Educators, Academic Coordinator Series, Non-represented Professional Research Series, Non-represented Librarian Series, Non-represented Project Scientist Series, and the Non-represented Specialist Series.

Policy-covered Trainee Titles: 4.6% general range adjustment increase will be applied to ranges for Clinical Psychology Interns and Non-Physician Clinical Trainee titles, and the minimum for Clinical Psychology Interns increased by 17.8%.

Range adjustments set by CBA:
Non-Senate Instructional Unit (IX – Unit 18): 3.0% increase. The scales include Lecturer, Supervisor of Teacher Education, and Coordinator of Field Work.
Professional Librarian Unit (LX): 3.0% increase.
Academic Researchers Unit (RA): 4.5% increase. The scales include the represented Professional Research Series, the represented Specialist Series, and the represented Project Scientist Series.

Department Chairs and College Provosts: stipend scales will be increased by the 4.6% general range adjustment.

Faculty Recruitment Allowance: the maximum is increased by 4.6% from $78,900 to $82,600.

October 1, 2023

Policy-covered faculty and ladder-rank equivalent: 4.6% general range adjustment subject to rounding and modest smoothing. The scales include Faculty – Professor Series and Faculty – Teaching Professor (Lecturer with Security of Employment) Series.

Range adjustments set by CBA:
Postdoctoral Scholars Unit (PX): 7.47% increase.
Academic Student Employee Unit (BX): 16.5% increase. New experienced-based salary scales will be implemented for Teaching Assistant and Associate Instructors.
Graduate Student Researchers Unit (BR): 6.4% increase. New experience-based salary points will be implemented.

The revised scales are now published in our campus Academic Salary Scales. Please share this information with the appropriate individuals in your unit(s).
