RE: Revised Guidelines - Charging Faculty Salaries to Extramural Research Funds

Dear Colleagues:

I write to you to announce a revision to the campus's guidelines for charging faculty salaries to extramural research funds, first issued on June 29, 2012. Recently, a question was raised regarding the use of these guidelines for faculty on sabbatical leave. I believe that it is appropriate to apply these guidelines to faculty on 100% sabbatical leave, and the following has been added effective immediately:

"Faculty on 100% sabbatical leave may also charge a component of their salary to extramural research funds. While on sabbatical leave, the faculty member is expected to dedicate 100% of their time to approved research activities."

All other components of the guidelines remain in effect. Revised guidelines are attached.

Sincerely,

Alison Galloway
