Re: 2014-15 Postdoctoral Scholars Academic Salary Scale Issuance
Dear Colleagues:
The salary scale for Postdoctoral Scholars has been increased in accordance with Article 4, Compensation, of the MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) between the University of California and the UAW union. The article stipulates that increases to the Postdoctoral Scholarssalary/stipend minima rates shall be made in accordance with the NIH announcement pertaining to the Ruth L. Kirchstein NRSA (National Research Service Award) stipend levels.
Effective January 1, 2015, the new minimum annual salary rate is $42,840 for Postdoctoral Scholars hired on or after this effective date. For Postdoctoral Scholars hired prior to January 1, 2015, the new rates will apply upon reappointment or anniversary date. The campus Postdoctoral Scholar Salary/Stipend Scale has been updated and is available online on the Academic Personnel Office web site (Academic Salary Scales). Please bring this revised scale to the attention of appropriate individuals in your units, including PIs, research accountants and payroll coordinators.
