Dear Dr. Ringold:
Effective immediately, I hereby delegate to the Vice Provost–Silicon Valley Initiatives the authority to approve appointments and reappointments to the non-salaried academic research titles of Research Associate and Research Fellow. All provisions of APM-355 and CAPM-608.355 apply. This authority may not be further delegated.
In addition, I hereby delegate to the Vice Provost–Silicon Valley Initiatives the authority to make appointments and reappointments into the Faculty Administrator titles of Associate Vice Provost, Director, and Associate Director and into interim or acting appointments in those titles for positions that report to the Vice Provost–Silicon Valley Initiatives. Authority is delegated for these Faculty Administrator titles at annual total compensation levels not to exceed $200,000. Total compensation includes administrative salary and/or professorial salary plus any administrative payment (stipends and/or administrative summer compensation), but does not include summer research compensation. Stipends are limited to 15 percent of the annual base professorial salary rate. Salaries in excess of these levels must be approved by the Campus Provost/Executive Vice Chancellor. All provisions of APM-241 and APM-246 apply. This authority may not be further delegated.
Exceptions to APM-355, CAPM-608.355, APM-241, and APM-246 are not delegated by this memorandum and must be approved as set forth in policy. The titles listed above constitute the total of academic titles delegated to the Vice Provost–Silicon Valley Initiatives.
Until such a time that a Vice Provost–Silicon Valley Initiatives is appointed, you will continue to be delegated the authority to act in that capacity in regards to the academic personnel actions described above.
