Re: 2024-25 Academic Salary Scales Issuance

Dear Colleagues:

We are issuing updated academic salary scales per the 2024-25 salary program for academic appointees. All policy-covered academic salary scales and ranges are subject to a 4.2% general range adjustment (subject to rounding and smoothing where applicable). Salary scales for represented academic appointees are set by the terms of their Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA). The changes will be effective on either July 1, 2024 or October 1, 2024 as follows, contingent upon the outcome of the State Budget allocation:

July 1, 2024 [Effective July 7, 2024 for biweekly paid appointees]

Policy-covered Non-faculty Academic Appointees: 4.2% general range adjustment increase. Includes Continuing Educators, Academic Coordinator Series, Non-represented Professional Research Series, Non-represented Librarian Series, Non-represented Project Scientist Series, and the Non-represented Specialist Series.

Policy-covered Trainee Titles: On June 1, 2024 the minimum salary rates for policy-covered Clinical Psychology Interns and salaried Non-Physician Clinical Trainees were adjusted in conjunction with the California Senate Bill 525 (SB 525) minimum wage. These adjustments are inclusive of the 4.2% salary program increase.

Scale adjustments set by CBA:

Non-Senate Instructional Unit (IX – Unit 18): 3.0% increase. The scales include Lecturer, Supervisor of Teacher Education, and Coordinator of Field Work.
Professional Librarian Unit (LX): no increase; the salary scales are in status-quo while negotiations continue.
Academic Researchers Unit (RA): 3.5% increase. The scales include represented titles in the Professional Research, Specialist, and Project Scientist series.

Department Chairs and College Provosts: Stipend scales will be increased by the 4.2% general range adjustment.

October 1, 2024 [October 13, 2024, for biweekly paid appointees]

Policy-covered faculty and ladder-rank equivalent: 4.2% general range adjustment subject to rounding and modest smoothing. Teaching Professors are being transitioned to the Professor Series scales; the Lecturers with Security of Employment Series scales are being discontinued.

Scale adjustments set by CBA:

Postdoctoral Scholars Unit (PX): 3.5% increase.
Academic Student Employee Unit (BX): 16.7% approximate increase to scales for salaried ASEs; salary scales for hourly ASEs have been increased by $1.00 per hour.
Graduate Student Researchers Unit (BR): 6.4% increase.

The revised scales are now published in our campus Academic Salary Scales. Please share this information with the appropriate individuals in your unit(s).

If you have any questions, you may direct them to the Academic Personnel Office at apo@ucsc.edu.
