Re: July 1, 2022 and October 1, 2022 Academic Salary Scales Issuance

Dear Colleagues:

We are issuing updated academic salary scales per the 2022-23 salary program for academic appointees. All policy-covered academic salary scales and ranges are subject to a 4.0% general range adjustment (subject to rounding and smoothing where applicable). Salary scales for represented academic appointees are set by the terms of their Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA). The changes will be effective on either July 1, 2022 or October 1, 2022 as follows:

July 1, 2022 [Effective July 10, 2022 for biweekly paid appointees]

Policy-covered Non-faculty Academic Appointees: 4.0% general range adjustment increase. Includes Continuing Educators, Academic Coordinator Series, Non-represented Professional Research Series, Non-represented Librarian Series, and the Non-represented Project Scientist Series.

Policy-covered Specialists: the salary scales for policy-covered specialists will be adjusted to include the 4.0% general range adjustment for 2022-23 (subject to rounding) with additional adjustments for the Junior Specialist rank to maintain parity with the corresponding represented salary scales.

Policy-covered Trainee Titles: 4.0% general range adjustment increase will be applied to ranges for Clinical Psychology Interns and Non-Physician Clinical Trainee titles.

Range adjustments set by CBAs:

  • Non-Senate Instructional Unit (Unit 18): 3.0% increase. The scales include Lecturer, Supervisor of Teacher Education, and Coordinator of Field Work.
  • Professional Librarian Unit: 3.0% increase.
  • Academic Researchers Unit: 3.0% increase. The scales include the represented Professional Research Series, the represented Specialist Series, and the represented Project Scientist Series. In addition, equity adjustments and smoothing of the represented Project Scientist Series and represented Specialist Series salary scales will be made in accordance with the terms of the CBA.

Department Chairs and College Provosts: stipend scales will be increased by the 4.0% general range adjustment.

Faculty Recruitment Allowance: the maximum is increased by 4.0% from $75,800 to $78,900.

Deans’ Salary Structure: The salary bands have been adjusted 1) increasing the minimum of each band by 10%, 2) increasing the maximum of Bands 1 and 2 by 10%, and 3) increasing the maximum of Band 3 by 15%.

October 1, 2022

Policy-covered faculty and ladder-rank equivalent: 4.0% general range adjustment subject to rounding and modest smoothing. The scales include Faculty – Professor Series and Faculty – Teaching Professor (Lecturer with Security of Employment) Series.

The revised scales are now published in our campus Academic Salary Scales. Please share this information with the appropriate individuals in your unit(s).
