Dear Colleagues:
On June 25, 2009, the Campus Provost/Executive Vice Chancellor (CP/EVC) continued the delegation of authority to the deans for approval of greater-than-normal merit increases up tot he campus off-scale salary limits for the corresponding rank and step for review years 2009-2010 and 2010-2011. This delegation included authority for the indefinite steps of the rank (i.e., Steps 6-9), but did not include authority for intial advancement to Step 6 and Above Scale, and Above Scale merits, or the other exceptions ntoed below.
I hereby extend this delegation through review year 2013-2014. This authority may not be further redelegated.
The CP/EVC retains authority for initial exceptions to off-scale salaries in excess of the campus off-scale salary limits. Additionall, the CP/EVC retains authority all academic personnel reviews where any increase to the candidate's off-scale increment is recommended and the candidate's current salary is at or above the campus off-scale limit for their corresponding rank and step. For example, if the advancement being proposed is greater-than-normal advancement from Professor Step 4 to Professor Step 5, and the candidate already earns $111,700 (the current campus off-scale salary limit for Professor Step 5), the CP/EVC has authority for the review.
The campus Delegation of Authority Chart and CAPM 803.620.F will be updated at this time to reflect the extension of this delegation through review year 2013-2014. Please refer to the current campus salary scales for the campus off-campus salary limits or to CAPM 803.620.C for these off scale salary limitations.
If you have any questions of comments, please contact the Academic Personnel Office liason assigned to your division.
Sincerly,
Alison Galloway
Campus Provost and
Executive Vice Chancellor
