Re: July 1, 2021 and October 1, 2021 Academic Salary Scales Issuance
Dear Colleagues:
We are issuing updated academic salary scales per the 2021-22 salary program for academic appointees. The changes will be effective on either July 1, 2021 or October 1, 2021 as follows:
July 1, 2021 [Effective July 11, 2021 for biweekly paid appointees]
Policy-covered non-faculty academic appointees: salary scales will be increased by the general range adjustment of approximately 3.0% (subject to rounding). These scales include Continuing Educators and the Academic Coordinator Series.
Parity adjustment for policy-covered librarians and academic researchers: salary scales will include the 3.0% general range adjustment for 2021-22 and additional adjustments to bring the policy-covered and represented scales into parity. These scales include Non-represented Professional Research Series, Non-represented Specialist Series, Non-represented Librarian Series, and the Non-represented Project (e.g. Scientist) Series.
Professional Librarian Unit: per the contractual agreement between the University Council-American Federation of Teachers (UC-AFT) and the University of California, the 2021-22 salary scales for the Professional Librarian Unit LX titles will be adjusted by a general range adjustment of 3.0%.
Academic Researchers Unit: per the contractual agreement between the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW) and the University of California, the 2021-22 salary scales for the Academic Research Unit RA titles will be adjusted by a general range adjustment of 3.0%. In addition, equity adjustments and smoothing of the represented Project Scientist Series and represented Specialist Series salary scales will be made in accordance with the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). These scales include the Represented Professional Research Series, the Represented Specialist Series, and the Represented Project (e.g., Scientist) Series.
Department Chairs and College Provosts: stipend scales will be adjusted by the 3.0% general range adjustment.
Faculty Recruitment Allowance: the maximum is increased by 3.0% from $73,600 to $75,800.
October 1, 2021 [Effective October 3, 2021 for biweekly paid appointees]
Policy-covered faculty and ladder-rank equivalent: salary scales will be adjusted by the 3.0% general range adjustment. Exact percent increases may differ because of rounding. The scales include Faculty – Professor Series and Faculty – Teaching Professor (Lecturer with Security of Employment) Series.
Policy-covered Student Titles: salary scales for Graduate Student Researchers will increase by the 3.0% general range adjustment.
Academic Student Employee Unit: in accordance with the contractual agreement between the UAW and the University of California, the Academic Student Employees BX titles salary scales will be adjusted by a general range adjustment of 3.0%. The scales include Teaching Assistant, Teaching Fellow, Associate In, Reader and Remedial Tutor.
The revised scales are now published in our campus Academic Salary Scales. Please share this information with the appropriate individuals in your unit(s).
