ACADEMIC EMPLOYEES
Re: Revised Process for Dean Authority Senate Appointments
Dear Colleagues:
I am pleased to announce that the campus will implement a salary increase plan effective July 1,
For ladder rank faculty, the regular peer-review merits and promotions will continue to be fully funded. In addition, the ladder rank salary scales will increase by 4%, with corresponding increases in on-scale salary components for incumbents. There will be no across-the-board adjustment to off-scale salary components. The intent of the president’s program is to advance the competitiveness of faculty salaries via focused investment in the salary scales. The adjustment will be applied to above-scale appointees as per established campus practice: the portion of the salary up to the campus salary limit will be adjusted to the new limit.
The academic salary scales have been updated to reflect the 4% increase for ladder-rank faculty; ladder-rank-equivalent title series (Acting Professor, Astronomer, and Supervisor of Physical Education); and series with scales tied by policy to the ladder rank scale (Adjunct Professor and Professional Researcher).
The salary scales will increase by 3% for all other non-represented academic titles (Academic Coordinator, Lecturer with Security of Employment, Librarian, Project __, and Specialist). All appointees will receive corresponding increases in on-scale salary components effective July 1, 2018. In addition, I am approving a supplemental off-scale salary allocation equivalent to 1% of the scale rate for Lecturers with Security of Employment, for parity with the ladder ranks.
This salary plan applies to all appointees in relevant titles with appointments active on July 1, 2018, unless stipulated otherwise in appointment or retention agreements.
Negotiated compensation agreements for recalled retirees, by-agreement appointees, and visitors are subject to the discretion of the hiring authority, and therefore not included in the academic salary plan. Salary increases for non-senate represented academic personnel are set by the terms of the collective bargaining agreements.
The salary increases are effective July 1,
Sincerely,
Marlene Tromp
