RE: Issuance of Revisions to CAPM 600.310 (Professional Research Series) and 600.311 (Project [e.g. Scientist] Series) – Removing Letter Solicitation Requirement for Step 6

Dear Colleagues:

I write to notify you that revisions have been made to CAPM 600.310 and 600.311 to remove the expectation of letter solicitation for merit advancement to Step 6 in the Professional Research and Project (e.g. Scientist) Series. These revisions were made to mirror the same recent change in the Professor Series at UCSC. The requirement for external solicited letters in reviews for advancement to Above Scale remains in effect.

These policy changes are effective immediately for represented and non-represented academic researchers. The changes may be found in the relevant CAPM policies at https://apo.ucsc.edu/policy/capm/index.html. Please share these changes with any academic researchers that may be affected.

Any questions regarding these policy revisions may be directed to Ibukun Bloom in the Academic Personnel Office, ijbloom@ucsc.edu.

Sincerely,

Lori Kletzer

Executive Vice Chancellor
