HERBERT LEE

Vice Provost for Academic Affairs

Re:  Delegation of Authority—Exceptions to the Timing of Mid-Career Appraisals

Dear Vice Provost Lee:

Effective immediately, I hereby delegate authority to the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs to approve individual exceptions to the timing of mid-career appraisals of campus academic appointees, allowing unusual and exceptional cases to undergo appraisal in the fifth year of service. Any exceptions granted must still fall within the expectations set forth by APM 220-83.a.

Refer to CAPM 408.220 Mid-Career Appraisal and CAPM 514.285 Lecturer with Security of Employment Series for relevant campus policies that detail expectations and timing for the mid-career appraisal of campus academic appointees. Other exceptions to these policies are not delegated and must be approved as set forth in policy.

This authority may not be further delegated without express approval from the Campus Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor.

Sincerely,

Marlene Tromp
Campus Provost and
Executive Vice Chancellor
