Re: Non-exempt and Revised 2016-17 Academic Salary Scales
Dear Colleagues:
In order to comply with the Department of Labor’s new overtime rule, the University of California made updates to the academic salary scales. The revised UCSC sales include the following and are effective November 20, 2016:
- Revised scale for the exempt Specialist Series: the Junior Specialist rank has been removed and the Assistant Specialist rates have been increased.
- Non-exempt scales added: Professional Researcher FY (Regular and BEE); Specialist (including Junior Specialist); Project Scientist (Regular and BEE); Academic Coordinator FY
- New non-exempt title codes have been created and are included on the new scales.
The revised Academic Salary Scales are available online at the Academic Personnel Office website. Please bring these revised scales to the attention of appropriate individuals in your units – the new rates should be used for appointments effective on or after November 20, 2016.
