Dear Colleagues:

We are pleased to announce the upcoming launch of the UC Outside Activity Tracking System (OATS). OATS is a multi-campus collaboration intended to facilitate the collection, review, approval, and reporting of faculty outside professional activities. The new system will replace the current APM 025, 240, and 246 annual reporting forms and the paper-based prior approval processes. OATS  will also help to broaden understanding around the University of California Office of the President's Conflict of Commitment policies, support compliance requirements, and improve reporting capabilities.

You can watch the two-minute UC OATS Introduction video.

OATS is scheduled to go live at UCSC before the end of fall quarter. Accounts will be automatically generated and campus users will login via the UCSC portal with their CruzID and gold password. More information and resources for users will be announced soon.

In-Person Training
In-person OATS training sessions will be offered at UCSC in November, to prepare department chairs and academic deans for their reviewer and approver roles and department managers and divisional academic personnel for their reviewer role. Although these trainings are geared towards APM 025 reviewers and approvers, any senate faculty member is welcome to attend, as space allows. The trainings are applicable to faculty and faculty administrators, as an opportunity to learn more about faculty rights and obligations under APM 025 and receive in-person training on OATS.

Each training session will include a brief overview of APM 025 policies and procedures, training on the OATS system, Q&A, and optional open lab time. Please complete the UCSC OATS Training RSVP form by Friday, November 23rd, to sign up for one of following training sessions.
