Dear Colleagues:
As announced in Interim CP/EVC Kletzer’s July 18, 2019 memo, the 2019-20 UC Academic Salary Program is comprised of two phases. Phase 1 increases salary scales for non-faculty, non-represented title series by approximately three percent on July 1, 2019. These include the Academic Coordinator series, Continuing Educators, and Non-Physician Clinical Trainees.
Per the contractual agreement between the University Council-American Federation of Teachers (UC-AFT) and the University of California, all Non-Senate Faculty (Unit 18) salary scales have increased by three percent effective July 1, 2019 for individuals on the monthly pay cycle, or July 14, 2019 for individuals on the biweekly pay cycle.
Salary scales for the newly union-represented title series Professional Researcher FY, Project __ (e.g., Scientist) FY, and Specialist FY will remain unchanged during collective bargaining. For individual appointees in this series who will not be covered by the collective bargaining agreement (e.g., supervisors), new title codes and scales have been issued and include a three percent increase effective July 1, 2019. These individuals have been notified of their non-represented designation.
Note that the new non-represented Professional Researcher FY scales must not be used in conjunction with senate faculty titles. Summer salary, course buyout, research salary exchange components, etc. will remain tied to the associated faculty salary scale, using the existing Researcher—Academic Year 9/9 or 9/12 title codes. These title codes will have “(LR Scale)” appended to the title names, and the salary scales will be updated in Phase 2.
Eligible appointees will be moved to the new scales and receive corresponding salary increases effective July 1, 2019 for individuals on the monthly pay cycle, or July 14, 2019 for individuals on the biweekly pay cycle.
Department chair and college provost stipend scales are increased by approximately three percent effective July 1, 2019.
The new and revised July 1, 2019 effective scales are now published in our campus Academic Salary Scales. Please ensure this information reaches the appropriate individuals in your unit(s).
Salary scales will be issued soon for the Academic Salary Program Phase 2 for senate faculty and equivalent titles, effective October 1, 2019. Salary scales will also be issued soon for represented academic student employees and graduate student researchers, effective October 1, 2019 for monthly employees or October 6, 2019 for biweekly employees.
