COVID-19 Leave Information for Teaching Assistants and Graduate Student Instructors

TAs and GSIs who are unable to continue to perform their duties, either temporarily or for an extended time, should notify their faculty supervisor and immediately contact their divisional academic personnel coordinator. The academic personnel coordinator will help determine the most appropriate leave type(s) and provide information and guidance to the appointee and faculty supervisor. Refer to Instructional Continuity for guidance. 

 

Extended Emergency Paid Sick Leave (Extended EPSL)

TAs and GSIs are eligible for Extended EPSL for any EPSL qualifying reason. Please refer to the COVID-Related Leave for Academic Employees webpage for more information.

  • Extended EPSL will not be granted beyond the end date of the term appointment unless there is a subsequent academic appointment. 

Extended Medical Leave

In accordance with Article 17 of the collective bargaining agreement, TAs and GSIs are eligible for up to four weeks of paid medical leave due to their own serious health condition or to care for a family member.
