Academic Personnel Review Workshop & Luncheon for Department Chairs

Presented by VPAA Lee and CAP Chair Freccero

The purpose of the workshop is to provide guidance to department chairs who steward the senate faculty review process, from the expert perspectives of the VPAA, the Chair of CAP, a dean, and APO, including best practices and strategies to avoid common pitfalls. Campus Provost/ Executive Vice Chancellor Tromp will speak about the important role of the department chair.

Audience:
New, incoming, and continuing department chairs who will participate in the academic personnel review process for senate faculty in 2018-19.

The Academic Personnel Review Process for Ladder-Rank Actions

Audience:
This workshop is intended primarily for new and continuing department managers who process ladder-rank review files, but is also open to new or continuing department chairs. Each workshop repeats the same material, so attendees will only want to attend one of the options. This workshop will be offered again in the Fall quarter, with dates/times to be announced.

Topics to include: 

The workshop will include a detailed walk-through of the policies and procedures for processing a review file for a ladder-rank faculty member's professorial advancement.


Faculty Recruitment Workshops for Search Committee Chairs and Diversity Liaisons:

Presented by the Academic Personnel Office (APO) and the Campus Diversity Officer for Faculty, Herbie Lee. The purpose of this workshop is to provide information on the best practices and tools necessary to run successful and compliant recruitments.  

Audience:
This workshop is required for search committee chairs and diversity liaisons. However, ALL committee members are highly encouraged to attend.

Topics to include:
Fair hiring (laws and policies related to equal employment opportunity and affirmative action), introduction to the Faculty Recruitment Toolkit, key issues for search committees in the faculty recruitment process, and how to effectively document the search process.
